All of these trails rides either Trekking or Hacking take place off road leaving the Centre and riding through the leafy pasturelands and across the streams before we climb out in to the complete wilderness of the North Antrim Hills and forests. This is a unique horse riding experience in Northern Ireland where you can have a picnic out in the wilderness or make your way down to the local pub for lunch before riding back through the mountains and forestry to Sheans. Treks are all done at walking pace, while the Hacks take in trotting and cantering with gallops if required. 2.5  Hour Picnic Ride (2 hours’ horse riding plus stop off for picnic viewing 5 counties )

Trek out into the beautiful North Antrim Hills taking in the stunning hilltop scenery and the North Coast. Start off riding through the leafy pasturelands and cross the streams before we climb up onto the moor land above the centre and go horse riding out into the wilderness taking in magnificent views over 5 counties of Northern Ireland. – Cost £45/person

 3.5 Hour Ride Picnic Ride (3 hours riding plus stop off for picnic)

This off road trail takes you horse riding higher and further out into the beautiful North Antrim Hills of Northern Ireland; at one point we have to dismount and lead our horses across an area of heather to connect to another track before riding on to a peak called Croaghan. With 360 degree panoramic views, this must rate as the best view in Northern Ireland if not the whole of Ireland. Horse riding here gives you breath-taking views over the Glens of Antrim looking north to Scotland’s Ayrshire Coast, Mull of Kintyre ( home to Paul Mc Cartney’s famous song)and Highlands and Western Isles of Scotland. It also looks out over Rathlin Island and on to Inishowen and Malin Head in Donegal the most northernly point in Ireland; then west across the River Bann to the Sperrin Mountains and south to the Mourne Mountains in Co Down Northern Ireland and to Slieve Beagh in Co. Monaghan which is in Southern Ireland. As you continue Horse riding with our local guide these off road trails will give you a sense of seclusion and tranquility as you look out over most of Northern Ireland. Cost £70/person.

Day of Horse Riding and Horse Care at Sheans

Take advantage of this great opportunity to spend an entire day at Sheans Horse Farm, harnessing your inner cowgirl and really getting to know the horses and the staff here at Sheans.

Join the Sheans team in the morning and be embraced as a part of it with a warm welcome from the helpers. After this you will be introduced to your pony for the day and get to know each other. After making the acquaintance of your new four legged friend you will join a group and enjoy an exciting horse ride around the farm.

After your ride you will get an opportunity to get up close and personal with your trusty steed, learning how to groom and tack the horses and getting the opportunity to spend some more time getting to know them in the stables, helping out with the cleaning up and horse care.

Throughout the day you will continue to join in with all of the horse riding, horse care and grooming that is happening on the farm and the only thing you won’t enjoy is saying goodbye when it is all over.
