Trekking

Take the opportunity to ride into the hills and cast your eyes upon breathtaking views of Northern Ireland countryside including the Giant’s Causeway, Lough Foyle, the Sperrin Mountains, and to Ireland’s most northerly point, Malin Head, County Donegal.Horse and Pony Trekking at Sheans Horse Farm takes place on miles of off-road farm lanes and tracks. The farm has no road frontage, which means that riders only encounter normal farm traffic. This automatically creates an environment where safe relaxed horse riding and pony trekking can be enjoyed. Negotiate quiet streams, cross hills and hollows. Get in the saddle and enjoy yourself at Sheans Horse Farm. We can tailor make a ride for you.  Corporate groups, hen/stag parties, families, friends, we do it all!

Our team of trusted horses and ponies will take you and your family or friends into the North Antrim Hills.

The horses are beautiful and fit and will surprise you with their sureness of foot and superb balance. Compact, intelligent and strong, they are ideally suited to the hills and mountains that surround us.The lower lands of the farm are leafy parkland and as you rise up towards the peak at 280m above sea level the surroundings gently change into wild, open, heather covered slopes around Slieve an Orra.

The home farm is a traditional hill type farm which rises from the basin of the River Bush at approximately 50 metres to 280 metres above sea level. Feel part of the history as you rise from the fertile river basin up through the heather-covered slopes of Slieve an Orra on the Antrim Plateau - site of the Battle of Orra between the McQuillans and McDonnells in 1559 and savour views to as far away as County Donegal, Derry, Tyrone and Fermanagh.
